Paediatrician: Bedwetting, Urinary Incontinence and Constipation
Dr Merran Mackenzie is a Consultant Paediatrician who has a special interest in bedwetting, daytime urinary incontinence as well as constipation.
She completed her medical degree at the University of NSW, graduating with Honours. She trained as a General Paediatrician at Sydney Children’s Hospital at Randwick and worked for several years as a Paediatrician at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead in the emergency department and more recently with the refugee health service. While at The Children’s Hospital, Merran has gained experience in managing children with bedwetting and daytime incontinence and has spent time at the Continence Clinic learning from Dr Patrina Caldwell who founded and heads the clinic.
Merran’s practice focuses on the care of children with bedwetting as well as daytime urinary and faecal incontinence. Often not talked about and thought to be something children “will grow out” of, bedwetting and incontinence can affect 1 in 10 children at the age of 6. If not treated it can continue into the teenage years and even adulthood. There are several different reasons why children experience bedwetting and daytime incontinence and Merran will carry out a thorough assessment to determine the cause and the optimal way to treat it.
Merran is a mother to five children and is passionate about delivering quality healthcare to children and their families.
